Although we live in a totally urban area, there is a park nearby, and we frequently have visits from hares (a.k.a. jack-rabbits).
This one stayed parked under a tree in our front yard today for a goodly time, camouflaged so well it would be easily overlooked.
Last summer we had a mama hare produce a litter under one of the shrubs in our back yard (see a leveret -- a young one here).
Newborn hares are put on their own from day 1; they know how to eat grass at birth, and every evening
they return to the nesting place for a feed from mom.
