The HEB grocery story headquarters on the San Antonio river.
Originally the site of the U.S. Arsenal, established in 1859 to supply munitions
and arms to the frontier forts of Texas. It was occupied by the Confederate army during
the civil war and also served as a major supply depot during both World Wars.
In 1985, the H.E. Butts Corporation bought the 10 acre site and undertook adapted use of
the original buildings.
