Three Dikes Hill

Big Bend Ranch S.P. Texas

Buff-colored volcanic tuff and spines of protruding rocks called dikes are poking up through this volcanic landscape.
In geology, a dike is a large slab of rock that cuts through another type of rock.

Spectacular beauty! I would love to have been able to see what this area
looked like shortly after the geological events that created it.

rich bands of colours from prickly pear cacti right up to the mesa and rich blue sky...all the diagonals provide a subtle geometry too..
