June 20th

My Office, Sugar Land Texas

Gus18 has been taking short flights from one roof top to another.
He still has a few of his baby feathers around his neck, but has filled out nicely in deep black.
Here He's on top of our classroom building - he has a bird's eye view of the lake from here.
That's one of his parents, floating high in the sky behind.
One hour after this photo, he flew to a nearby power pole and had a awkward landing. He was electrocuted. Dead. His mom was in the tree next to the pole
and was making noises, I suppose trying to wake him up. I'm very sad. The is the 3rd year that one of the vultures was killed on that same pole.

A sad ending to a new life, but this is beautiful photo, should go on the wall in your office. V

What a sad little story, the poor bird & his/her mum... but great shot Lynn. v

A sad story and a fantastic image! Terrific work. V

horrible and so preventable. Simple solution would be not to have exposed high voltage cables. Not only dangerous to birds, but also when the cables come down in storms, collisions, etc.

PS I'm so sorry to hear that yet another Gus has been killed on the power pole.

Nice shot of Gus at the apex. Love the bird in the sky over his shoulder.

You've had a really cool experience watching these youngster grow, and had many excellent shots of the process too, as here. He looks like a rooftop ornament in this shot! V

What a great capture of Gus 18, and nice that you got the parent in the distance, too. It must be fun to watch them grow up. V.
