January 29

Stafford, Texas

Tax Break
In Texas, you pay less taxes on land that is used for grazing.
To qualify as grazing land, you must have a certain amount of livestock on the land.
It's not uncommon to find a large vacant lot with resident donkeys, horses or longhorn cattle.
This plot is smack dab in the middle of a warehouse district.

So beautiful those long horns - we do see them only at the zoo...
A well thought story indeed...

That is an iconic Texas photograph! Love the composition. V

You'd hardly know it fr4om this shot; the (presumably warehouses) at the edge of frame could just as easily be farm buildings.
I could do with a couple of these to keep the grass down, especially if the council rates went down as well. But then I'd have to deal with the cow droppings, so it'd be "win-lose".
This front-on shot really captures the essence of the distinctive Texan longhorn.

Great story behind the picture, although there does not seem to be much to graze on, unless it comes from a bale! LOL! Longhoens are so impressive. Voted.

Very interesting explanation for what these two are doing in the middle of a warehouse district, and well captured, too. V.
