Our plan was to pack the tent and head for the north coast. We intended to drive to John O'Groats, and then make our way west until we reached Tongue. Somewhere around there, we would make camp and fight the midges. Tomorrow we would head home, stopping off to watch the dolphins in the Moray Firth. That was the plan.
Last night we had torrential rain and high winds. It was more like late-November than mid-August. This morning was little better, so we postponed our trip. Then the sun came out and the mercury rose.
I blame Northstar... he is (or was) a weather boffin at the Met Office. But then again, I do live in Scotland, where four seasons in a morning is not unusual.
