Our final day and, as you could probably have predicted, the weather got better. So much better, in fact, that you could almost believe that it was the end of May rather than the beginning of October. Still, shouldn't complain too much, afterall, it's the climate that makes Scotland so green. The weekend that was now drawing to an end was fun (apart from the first night, when we were being eaten alive by midges). Our decision to set up camp at St Ninian's may not have been inspired, but it was certainly good: we were not once troubled by the dreaded insects. Moreover, the tent stood up well to the vagaries of the Scottish weather, and probably didn't need to be tied to the car. Both Liam and I got a healthy dose of fresh air and exercise, we got to see our relatives (and Liam got a tenner from his aunt) and we got to travel in the Highlands. I managed to read a whole book in one afternoon (and I can't remember the last time I managed that - the book, in case you are interested, was Nick Hornby's A Long Way Down. I enjoyed it [which actually surprised me!]), and Liam got to camp. In the end, the weather didn't really matter, and certainly didn't stop us from having a good time. We also bumped into Zak - or rather he bumped into us. He saw our car parked at Scalpsie, so he stopped and said hello.
