Forgotten and rediscovered

7 August 2005

A day of football, raking and cycling. The first two don't rate more than a passing mention... come to think of it, neither does the last one! Nevertheless, since it was a pretty mundane day during which I watched the Hearts v. Hibs game, following which I raked up as much of the mess as possible from the garden and put it in boxes ready to go to the skip, I suppose I have little option but to tell you about cycling. I got my bike out of the shed this evening and cycled a couple of miles, with Liam keeping a watchful eye on me lest my leg give out. We didn't go far - just to Bridgefoot, then Strathmartine and Pitempton and back home (as if anyone not from this part of the world has a clue where these places are!!! - if you're curious, look up www.streetmap.co.uk). Anyway, it was strange being back on a bike after all this time, and although it wasn't a great distance, I don't think that it has done my leg too much harm. It is a bit sore - but that could just be because of lack of exercise rather than aggravated injury. Whatever it is, I must admit that I feel better for it, and the discomfort is a price worth paying. I don't think that I will be entering the Tour de France any time soon (or ever, actually), but I might just manage the Tour de Strathmartine - as long as we go no further than Templeton and Dronley - for the time being, at least! Liam had fun, though: for the first time in his life - although probably not the last - he was able to go faster than me! Tomorrow I get to drive a digger - that should be fun (Liam want to have a go too!). Just now we are both like kids waiting for Christmas!

I like this one too...Did I make the right choice?

I have just realised that we haven't been doing many excursions this summer

Lance Armstrong has retired, so you could have a go at the Tour....Love these primary colors, but the b&w makes me think forgotten....both good, Stu.

Lovely shot Stu, I really like this. Good news about the bike, maybe we can get out for that cycle soon, before the early dark comes back :) I'm missing my cycle to work.

I think you got it spot on stu, but you could have got one of Liam on it.

I find that often when somebody had an injury and returns to exericse that they tend to be overly sensitive and worry that they cause damage again to the same place. Most the time that is not the case. I think you just a bit sore from exericsing and it will pass the more you go out there. The picture is nice. I love the blue on this bikes handles and the Dof.
