More color in the sky

than on the trees. This was taken on October 15, 2005. Normally we would be at peak color in the park, or very close to it.

I had a circular polarizer set to full strength on the lens. In photoshop I did levels, curves and then resized. Then made two duplicate layers (three total including the original image). On layer two I used Unsharp mask set to 60, 40, 7 and on layer three I used Unsharp mask at 250, .3, 0 and then just adjusted the opacity slider on each duplicate layer till I got close to what I was hoping for.

This was taken on the road that goes from Cades Cove back down to the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

I have more Smoky Mountains National Park images here. http://www.pbase.com/lundy/great_smoky_mountains_national_park

You are so right....our TN fall came unusually late this year. We are picking up a little here though. Good shot of our windy roads and mts.
