My Five Speed 1971 Schwinn Paramount P-5

This is an incredible bike to ride. The frame is a 1971 P-15 touring Paramount frame with a slightly longer wheelbase than the P-10 or P-13 road bikes. Take the big chainring off, decrease the gear options, and increase the challenge. In today's world of 20-30 speed road bikes, this is the one I love to ride! Since no gear is ever perfect or enuf, therein lies the challenge!

I still have a 1972 Paramount Touring bike that came with tubulars and of course a longer wheelbase than the racing models. It had a triple plateau, which helped me win a "citizen" race up Smuggler's notch in Vermont one year. It now has totally different (and more modern, mostly better and lighter) components, but is still my favorite bike ever. It just has a certain "balance" and fits me to the millimeter. It is very fast with an aero front wheel and tubulars--I'll bet it is faster than those $5K bikes with clinchers!
