gf1 vs 5D: high contrast scene

that is to compare the dynamic range of the two cameras

It is interesting to note that the panasonic handles the same exposure with a much smaller shutter speed 1/320, instead of 1/160 of the canon. Which means that, in order to avoid clipping, the panasonic exporemeter underexpose 1 stop. Which is good for the blue of the sky but it's not so good for the dark shadows.

In this comparison, I don't see a visible winner. Both cameras handle very well the shadows. The pany's sky is more blue, but that's probably due to a less contrasty image. You can download the 100% crops and play with curves and saturation in ps, the output results quite similar.
don't look at colors and sharpening. The 5D is set to standard jpeg, which is a little punchier in terms of saturation and contrast than the neutral or faithful picture style. However, it's the most pleasant output to my eye.
On the opposite, the pany is set to sharpening -2. At sharpening 0 (the default), there are hallos that destroy the output.
