In a day full of ugly chaos I find myself drawn to candles and symbolism. I need to bring my karma back - it's gone missing!

This gorgeous brass candle holder was given to me as a gift many years ago. When the tea light inside it is alight, it shimmers stars and moons all over the ceiling. It's completely wonderful in the way that only something completely useless can be!

So, here I am, in the dark, waiting for my world to right itself once again. David is in a foul mood - he's the one putting up with workmen all day - my beautiful kitchen is once more ripped apart and I've been forced to use the cooker amidst a sea of dust, heat, every worksurface covered in grime, pots and other detritus. I can't access any glasses or crockery because they are all in the part of the room where there is wet levelling compound.

This tops a day where I've had to 'meet the new boss' - I'm tempted to think 'same as the old boss'- instead of getting on with the work I'd got on my plate.

So, I'm sitting in the dark hoping for calm and peace to return to my world..............
