13th December 2014 - unexpected pleasure

We went on a “smash and grab” raid this morning that went badly wrong. We’d been supposed to be going into town early so that we could use the post office and do a few little jobs that were deemed necessary before Christmas. The idea was we’d get there early and be home quickly, bish bash bosh. The best laid plans…

First we were late because I’d decided the night before to “go off duty” at about 8pm and decided to get up early to finish the jobs that we had to do before going. Although I got up early, I failed to complete the jobs because I lost two important things and spent so much time looking for them that we didn’t leave home until half an hour later than we’d planned. Then we made a bad decision about which car park to go for and got horribly snarled up in traffic so we cut loose and parked a considerable distance from the town centre and walked.

This shot was taken on the walk from car to town around the harbourside cycle path. It was a rather beautiful unexpected pleasure that came with where we parked. In the glorious winter sun, it couldn’t have been nicer. We had never walked round that area before so it was all new territory too.

Obviously it’s easy to see why you’d want steps down – when the tide is out then you can reach your little boat that takes you out to the big boat that’s moored in the harbour but what’s the arch for? Where does it lead? Is it still in use? I need to know…

I was pleased to discover that these pages had achieved 5.5 million hits this week - wow - I never expected that when I started.
