The Castle on this island in central Örebro dates back to a Castal from 12th Century. The present Castle is built in Wasa style and in its main outline from the 16th-17th Century! The year 1809 - after the Wasa/Pfalzic Dynasty had lost the Throne thru a treason by the Nobility - one of Napoleons Generals - Bernadotte - was elected King in Sweden in this Castle. The Bernadotte Dynasty are for the time being on the Throne in Sweden.
