Although this looks like easy walking, it is anything but. The bog is composed of sphagnum hummocks which are spongy and very moveable. As well, the entire site is wet and it wasn't long before we were up to our knees in water in places (my hiking boots won't dry out for some time yet!). Not wanting to trample the vegetation, made it even more difficult to get around, and in the end, we made our way back to an old trail that while still damp and spongy, was a bit easier walking as it skirted the bog proper.
