Dragonfly exuviae

This was one of many, many exuviae found clinging to vegetation on the edges of a small, artificial pond in Ottawa's west end greenbelt. I think, though am not certain, that this may be from a darner.
Exuviae are the shed skins of dragonflies and damselflies. When they are ready to transform into adults, the nymphs climb up onto vegetation early in the morning, and then break free of their old skin to fly free!

A fascinating, ghostly image. I have never seen one of these before, only the locust skin, great catch. V
