King David & Harp I

Jerusalem, Israel

This four-meter statue of King David near the Tomb of Kind David has attracted quite a bit of controversy.
In early-2010 when Ultra-Orthodox (Haredi) Jews were caught (in the words of the Jerusalem Post) "slathering red paint on the statue, which took five sanitation workers to clean."
Six-months later, Haredi members of the Jerusalem city council, attempted to have it moved.
Since then, the poor guy's nose has been broken off. (See "Haredi protest may bring down King David," Jerusalem Post, 14 September 2010.)
