Each Wat or temple in Laos has unique features that distinguish it from the others. This particular Wat has the distinction of having been built on top of exposed bedrock instead of on soil or concrete. The buildings are remarkably varied in appearance and seem to have been built in different styles as it evolved. The Stupa (solid tall dark monument) has elaborate carving on it, unlike in many other Wats where they are plain and unadorned. I hope I have done it justice.
