橋頭糖廠為台灣由老式製糖進入現代化製糖的第一座糖廠具有歷史意義,故台糖公司董事長余政憲把橋頭糖廠改建為台灣糖業博物館,並於2006年5月1日台糖公司60週年年慶時開幕.
