Alex Ramsey: I went to School #44 from 1965 & graduated in 1970. I too had Miss Ralph in 5th & 6th Grades; perhaps the single best instructor I ever had-including High School & College teachers. Incredible school....& great education for pre-high school preparation. Mr. Palka in Woodshop, Mr. Stachowitz in Metal Shop/foundry, Mr. Lee our Gym teacher, & a beautiful swimming pool. Even the cafeteria was of incredible quality & cleanliness. Music class, Art, (couldn't stand the art teacher.Miss Mulcaehy), & tremendous 7th & 8th grade teachers...Miss Schirman, Mr. Barbach, Mr. Gallagher, Mr. Miller, Mr. Romal...And great movies in a spacious auditorium every wednesday for assembly. Great memories; what a great era to growing up in that east side neighborhood....A thin slice of heaven looking back; to see it now is a national tragedy. It should be burned to the ground...I forgot, much of it already is by its own inhabitants.

Went to PS 44 from K to 3rd grade. 1946 to 1950. wondering if anyone else who went to school there at that time remembers me.

Graduated in 1966 and moved out of Buffalo to the burbs. Great memories of Miss Ralph in 5th & 6th grade where I met kids from all over the city. Gertrude Gol and Mr. Bartholomew for music/band, wow, what a throwback. Sad looking neighborhood these days. Used to have a Courier Express paper route in the neighborhood going all the way over to the train terminal, which I still visit hoping for a comeback.

A real trip back down memory lane...I attended PS #44 from 1956-1965 (K-8). Everyone who attended lived within several blocks; it was a relatively safe, working class neighborhood, and kids walked to this great school to learn from wonderful teachers who honestly cared. For nine years or so it was our whole world and an alternate family of close knit friends, after our real family. John Barrett was principal.

Broadway Street had a great choice of stores ranging from camera stores, surplus stores, and mens, womens or children's standalone specialty clothing shops not to leave out all the memorable European immigrant-run food stands at the Broadway Market near Fillmore Ave.

And of course, Sattler's the queen anchor department store located at 998 Broadway...

Would love to make contact with one or more classmates whom I sorely have missed over the years ! George_M. (email:) sendallbusinesshere@ymail.com

I went there from 5th grade through 8th grade, until 1973. The school was in transition, but was still a nice neighborhood place. I remember the stores along Broadway. No longer live in Buffalo. I imagine it is quite different now.

Me, my three older brothers, my younger sister, our dad, and my two uncles all went to School 44 (or, "Lincoln"). I went there K-8, 1976-1985. We lived a block away on Peck St. We played in the concrete playground in the back. I belonged to the Ranger Rick club that planted the little tree near the door on the right. Bells supermarket was across the street. We moved away from the neighborhood in 1985.
