I did some work in Engine 10 and it was a good station with a great crew. Engine 10 was born out of Buffalo's Industrial past and in a weird twist of fate died with it. These quarters were built in 1952 to house Engine 10, Ladder 8, and in the latter years Engine 29. Engine 29 was a WWII Surplus Duck vehicle that the BFD used for marine operations. It was disbanded in the mid-1960's. Ladder 8 was disbanded in 1976. The ATF had used the bay where Ladder 8 was quartered to house there Rescue apparatus.
Engine 10 meet the budget axe in 2003 when it was decided that the Industrial corridor on Ganson Street and the old 1st Ward did not require 24/7 fire protection. The closest companies to respond are Engine 1, Ladder 2 based in Downtown Buffalo.

FYI Engine 10 was orginally quartered on Perry Street and Ladder 8 was quartered on Chicago Street. When this station was opened in the 1940's, both of those station houses were closed. Ladder 8 was decommissioned in the early 1990's if I recall correctly. Engine 10 was closed in 2003. It wasn't one of the busiest stations but it served a vital industrial corridor which is now without fire protection. The closest company now is Engine 1, Ladder 2. When will leaders learn that just becuase the population has shrunk, it doesn't mean the area has.
