I was baptized in this church--62 years ago. I don't remember ever going back there, and now I live in north Florida. So sad that it is closed. Looks like beautiful architecture.

I wrote a history of this church and have pictures of the statues on my website,http://gapfel.com/Lourdes/

Built in 1898 at a cost of $100,000, this used to be St. Peter's (St. Pierre's) French Catholic Church which had their first building where the Hotel Lafeyette now stands. In the early 20th century it was called "Notre Dame de Lourdes" which appears on the cornerstone. It was closed in 1993, I was baptized here and my older brothers attended school here.

I visited Buffalo for the first time last month and was struck by this beautiful church and would love to know more of its history and demise. You have an utterly outstanding site here, I am taken both by the church and firehouse pictures, tying together my two vocations, past and present...the fire service and ministry. Wonderful site.

Amazing... very sad.

My grandmother was baptized in that church - it had a lovely blue interior , very soft. The statues from the outside of Our Lady and St Peter (the original name was St Pierre until the apparitions of Lourdes were approved by the Pope) are now in Hamburg's Catholic cemetery.
