the Dee River borders the
Chester Racecourse (see yesterday’s almost daily email), and
just upstream of the south-eastern corner of the racecourse it is
spanned by the “Old Dee Bridge”. It was built, from red sandstone,
at the sight of an earlier Roman bridge, between 1340 and 1387.
