The Garden Center was the most exposed (and most damaged) part of the facility. The only thing between this building and the Atlantic Ocean is a couple streets of military housing and Highway A1A (N. Atlantic Blvd). In fact, on strong current days, you can hear the waves break along the beach from this garden center.
