NGC 6040 a,b (Arp122)

NGC 6040a spiral galaxy type SBc in Hercules (center right) with NGC 6040b type S0 just below it.
This pair is also cataloged as Arp 122 in the class of E and E-like galaxies close to and
perturbing Spirals. Taken June 9, 11 and 12, 2007 with a DSI Pro II and Outback Cooler on a
C8NGT (8" Newtonian f5). This is cropped and resampled from a larger image of Abell 2151 see:
http://www.pbase.com/jshuder/image/106325870. All subframes were 180 sec. The RGB subframes
were also used to make synthetic L subframes (sL), which were then used in the total stack of
images to create the final L image resulting in the following total exposures (L+sL):R:G:B (min) =
(171+87):87:87:87. Color balance was achieved via numerically scaled channels. Captured with
Envisage, calibrated and sigma combined in Iris with other processing using FITZ, PixInsight LE and
Photoshop CS. North is up.
