Burgos. Instituto Cardenal López de Mendoza

It is a Renaissance building one of the largest in the city of Burgos which shows a harmonious symbiosis of late Gothic and Renaissance elements, and dedicated to teaching since its foundation. Work began in 1538 and was completed in 1579. Its work is of high quality silleria, especially the facade, which comes from the limestone quarries known Hontoria. In its construction intervened several stonemasons, the most important Resines to Pedro de Castaneda following Baltasar Juan del Campo and others. The sculpture, centered on the cover and shields, is the work of Diego Guillen and his successor Antonio de Elejade. The woodwork was carried out by Juan de eras and Miguel de Osma, among others.
