Dhoad group is a worldwide known cultural ambassador of Rajasthan. A place associated with the wild and magnificent desert which inspired the Maharajas to build their palaces reminiscent of a thousand and one nights. The land of real gypsies, troubadours and wandering musicians, who went from town to town, entertaining the princesses and their courtiers. A land of ancient music and spiritual tradition, the heritage passed down from generation to generation by poets, musicians, dancers and fakirs.
The band tries to cultivate and bequeath this heritage. Its magic and authenticity. Dhoad brings together Rajasthan musicians, but from different communities (Muslim and Hindu), and different artistic castes. They share Rajasthan culture, its music, poets, ceremonies, dancers, fakirs, snake charmers. Since 2001, the group has been successfully touring the whole Europe. They have already given 100 concerts from Asia, through Europe, USA to Canada. The group is made of eight world-class performers (six musicians, a dancer and a fakir fire-eater).
Dhoad gathers leading figures connected with Rajasthan music. These both incredibly elegant and beautiful, but also malicious and majestic musicians, poets and shamans depict in their music amazing places of their region. Their music is a music of ecstasy, a combination of climaxes, punctuated by gentle gestures of breathtaking tunes a truly magical experience.
