An SP is a rarity for you; it worked out well, though. Nothing blown out, nothing lost in the shadows. Looking deeply into your eyes it looks like you have the primary light source on your left and either something bouncing or a weaker light on your right. Either way it evened things out rather well.

I don't generally buy into the idea that a portrait can capture the essence of a person, but the person looking out from this portrait seems to be a caring person who has seen a few things. Which is the impression I have of you from your photography and your volunteer work. Again, a great photo.
