Our objective today was a hike on Santa Rosa Island. Getting to the island is a three hour boat trip. That is a long sit but Ginny brought a bunch of National Geographic magazines which made the time go quickly. On the island our hike was guided by a naturalist who really knew his plants and flowers. Ginny loved that. He also knew about the history of the island. It was an active ranch until 1998. The hike was 3 1/2 miles. At the end of the day my iPhone said we walked 5.1 miles and climbed 14 floors. Most of the hikes we do start downhill and you have to climb out at the end. This one was great. We went uphill first and then down at the end. Much better arrangement in my mind.
