Mop heads, Luling, TX, and why I'm an Alley Cat

I'm an Alley Cat

Where I live now on a small ranch I call "El Ranchonotso grande, " about 30 miles from Austin, I don't have an alley. Where I lived in West Austin, in a neighborhood known as Tarrytown, I didn't have an alley. Where I lived on 5th Ave. in NYC I didn't have an alley.

But, in S.E. Arkansas, in the small town of McGehee where I lived as a young boy, we had an alley. We put our trash in the alley and somebody came by and picked it up. There were no trash cans sitting out in our driveway two or three times a week. Very civilized. Looking down the street and seeing a long row of big, grey trash cans is common in many places now. It's a blight on those neighborhoods.

However, in many small towns they still have alleys. And when I'm exploring small towns for photos, I'll drive, if possiable, and if not I'll walk down alleys looking for interesting photos. I've found quite a few.

Mop Heads, in the photo above is one of my favorets.

So, I suggest when you are in a small town that has alleys, be an Alley Cat.

The End.
