La tomba di Giulietta

Scanned from an albumen print circa 1880
Title on photograph "Verona, tomba di Giulietta", the tomb of Juliet.
This purported to be the burial site of Juliet of Romeo and Juliet fame. The sarcophagus is located in what was the grounds of a Franciscan monastery that was built in 1320 but may date from Roman times.
It is unclear when it was first considered to Juliet's tomb but there are references from the late 16th century tourists and souvenir have been visiting it ever since. In 1937 the sarcophagus was moved to an underground crypt in the monastery site
The figure in the upper left represents Romeo
