This poem which was paraphrased from Alexander Popes "Essey on a Man" which was done in 1821 and was in a shadow box frame with a three inch circular view.
The poem written in pencil in an extremely fine hand reads as follows.
"Lot the poor Indian, whose untutored mind sees God in the clouds and hears him in the wind;
But thinks, admitted to that equal sky, his grateful dog bear him company"
