Java on November 5 2005.jpg

Rhode Island

One year ago, I was undergoing surgery for the second time in one year.

The diagnosis and first surgery involved a series of medical errors.

The second surgery was to remove hardware from a failed fusion in my upper back.

Post op - flat on my back, I found pbase -got hooked on the idea
of starting a Picture a Day project (started on January 1). This
has been one of several silver linings of a not so fun experience.
Doing a PaD project has been good diversion from chronic pain.
Deeply appreciate all the words of encouaragement and your wonderful
work that has been very inspiring. A second silver lining is wonderful
brother-in-law, who helped me get back on my feet. A big thanks JACK!.
The third silver lining has been Java - for a young Lab, he
has been unbelievably patient with my recovery and source of laughter,
based on his love of stuff toys. So, Java got two new toys today -
a pink flamingo and small pink pig.

Wonderful story. Java sounds like Juno, making me smile and laugh with the lab antics.

I'd never have guessed either - you're so lively! Java is such a sweetie, I only hope one day I have a dog just as special!

The love of an animal is a healing unto itself. Unconditional, unwavering and understanding. I hope you continue to heal Joan. Java will never stray from your side - Best friends are hard to find! Cheers.

Java looks so gentle.
Sorry to hear you are in such pain Joan. Best of luck.

Java has been a source of laughter for all of us too, thank you for your generosity in continuing to share him with us. If I ever met Java in person one day then I would gladly shake his paw. :-)

Java is so pretty, he deserves many treats and toys. It amazes me the way dogs sense when their owners don't feel well and adapt. Hope you continue to improve.

Joan I don't know if I told you but Java could be a brother to my wonderful departed Lab, who stood by me thru some awful times and a better friend I've never found. I'm convinced that they are sent to us to get us over the hump.
I hope your recovery is complete by the end of your first year.

Fabulous portrait of an absolutely beautiful Lab! Hope you are recovered and doing well now!! I have found Pbase to be a wonderful support during difficult times, filled with great newfound friends!

Awww, this made me teary. Here's to your continued recovery, Joan. And I really wish I could give Java a kiss in person. I showed my girls him dressed in his Halloween costumes earlier -- should have heard them laughing!
