St. Hywyn's Church at Aberdaron

Aberdaron, Gwynedd

Situated almost at the tip of the Lleyn Peninsula, the side of the church with the bell tower is Norman and the side nearest the sea a 17th century extension built to accommodate the large number of visitors coming to the church in its own right and those stoping off on the way to nearby Bardsey island. The monastery on Bardsey Island had the same status as St. David's and attracted many pilgrims.
