Miners' Bridge

Pont-Rhyd-y-Groes, Ceredigion

There was a bridge here in the 1800s for miners living in Pont Rhyd Y Groes to get to the mines on the western side of the Ystwyth river. The original bridge collapsed in 1920 but in 2002 this new bridge was built by community group Pentir Pumlumon to restore the crossing and allow access to the Ystwyth Gorge and Coed Maenarthur forest from the village.

Marvellous. I like how it disappears into the woods on the other side.

it looks like an experience as well as a bridge; also re-assuring to know that something sometime was done to ease the harsh life of mineworkers

Beautiful setting and a great POV for this bridge. Hopefully it's sturdier than the last one! V.
