On Saturday, June 18, 2011, fellow OFNC members R. Cavasin, L. Neily and I journeyed across the Ottawa River in search of butterflies and other wildlife around Luskville and the northwestern section of Gatineau Park. We had three specific destinations: a bog on private property (which we had permission to visit) known informally as "Monty's Bog", a marsh in Gatineau Park on Ch. Sincennes, and a meadow on a trail at the base of the Gatineau hills near Luskville. It was a beautiful, warm sunny day, and we saw lots of butterflies and dragonflies, many of which are rare and local to the area. Some even posed for our cameras! Special thanks to Rick for identifying the butterflies for us and Chris Lewis for confirming the IDs on these dragonflies (and encouraging me to look at the "bits")!
