I had high hopes for our visit to Nova Scotia's south shore, but it rained the entire drive down, clearing up when we reached Lunenburg. We checked out a few places west of Lunenburg, including Hirtles Beach which is situated on the Atlantic Ocean. Although the rain had stopped, the coast was quite foggy. I saw many cormorants flying over the water, and two white birds with black wingtips which I suspect were gannets. A small flock of shorebirds also flew over but didn't land anywhere near us.
