The White Water Creek lies at the foot of the Yulong Mountain (Jade Dragon Snow Mountain) north-west of Lijiang, next to the cable-chair station that takes you up the mountain to Yunshanping. The water of the river (White Water River) flowing over the terracces is pure and very clean, because it originates from the melting snow on Yulong Mountain and is filtered by the mountain rocks. On a clear day, the snow-capped Yulong Mountain can be seen from here and forms a perfect backdrop to the terraces, making it a very scenic spot.

When we reached the place by bus in the late morning, the mist cleared to reveal Yulong Mountain for only a very brief period, after which it was completely shrouded by mist again.
