This statue of Athena Parthenos (the Virgin Athena) is one of many copies
made since Phidias created the large original in Athens in 447 B. C.

The original was made of ivory, gold, and silver and was 38 feet tall.

The newest, in Nashville Tennessee, USA, has an ivory face, sheets of gold
for the body, and is 41 feet tall.
