Copenhagen, Denmark

Empress Dagmar was born in Denmark but got married to Zar Nicolai something or other and lived in Russia until the revolution in 1917 - where she fled to Denmark. She died here in 1924. Surving members of the Zar-family has been lobbying for years for the remains of Dagmar to be transferred to Russia - offcially to grant her her last wish - but, of course, they have an obvious interest in re-establishing a royalistic spirit in Russia. Yesterday they reached their goal and Dagmar's coffin was removed from the tomb in Denmark, put on display on horse-carriage through Copenhagen and finally shipped to Russia. This act was in itself deeply irrational - and boring (as witnessed by the hysterically bizarre attempts of Danish media to make it seem important and "grand"). Obviously, the whole thing was also very expensive - and was happening at the same time as huge budget cuttings in public child care is taking place all over Denmark. Here's Julie, Sikker and a friendly Danish soldier having a good laugh.

They should change position for a day and she will not do it again, I suppose. Great shot though. And I see a hint of smile in his face. Hope he will not be arrested for that.
