Target Rock

Long Island was formed thousands of years ago by glaciers pushing soil and rocks down from Connecticut.
Most of the rocks were small but there were some large boulders left behind.
They were know as glacial erratics.
This rock, seen through the decaying boat at low tide, is called Target Rock.
British warships were said to have used it for target practice.

Good framing for the rock. The boat looks like it would make an excellent windbreak.

I like the image and the story.I presume the rocks were from the Moraine which built the beautiful North Shore terrain (I miss it, Jane). "V"

It's a great image Jane, the colors and the history. Given its condition, I thought maybe the boat was a casualty of British gunfire but it's obviously too modern for that!

love the blues here...a compelling scene so adroitly portrayed..
Tom Beech22-Feb-2019 15:22
At first thought the story was the boat hit the rock... good one Jane
