Lanterns arranged to form the word 祈("inori") which means "prayer". It was placed on the Hanatouro course during 2012 Hagashiyama Hanatouro in honour of the Tohoku region of Japan, which was affected by the Earthquake and Tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011.
In the aftermath of the disaster one of the major retailers in Japan started selling T-Shirts with the slogan "Pray for Japan" in English on them to raise money for relief efforts. However in Japanese on the T-Shirts it said 頑張って日本 ("ganbatte nihon") which translates as "Good luck Japan" or "do your best Japan".

Sorry it's been a while since I last posted to PBase. I recently made a short trip back to Australia which has made me busy for a while catching up with work once I got back.
