Blockhouse 3rd Church Where Cohen Garrison Was Killed

Cohen Garrison, one of the killers of Capt. Lucius Williams in 1895, fled to Miss. and, after 8 years, thought it safe to return to Jacksonville, Ga. That night the Williams boys drew straws to see who would kill Cohen Garrison. Tripp Williams drew the shortest straw but wouldn't do it. He was very young. Bryant (Bry) Williams agreed to the terrible deed. He shot and killed Garrison on Christmas Eve night, 1903, as he stood in front of the church. Bry Williams fled to Florida.

Carleen, is he the same Squire Jowers named in the book Blind Obedience by Bill Boyd? That Squire Jowers lived in Coffee County. His son-in-law, Joe Rawlins, preached at Blockhouse some and was buried there.

My GGGrandfather Johnathan J. "Squire" Jowers was a Deacon and charter member of this church. Is there any information on him?
