"Stand" Of Redding Metts And Others Offered Protection From Indians

Fussell Chalker tells us that the Redding Metts and John Peterson families and others had a fortification similar to the one in the illustration near what is now Douglas, Georgia. They encountered the hostility of the Indians in 1836 and at other times. They lived in a dangerous location and could truly be called "pioneers." Be sure to read the article, "General Willcox Sees A Sky Of Many Colors."
