Wind Scorpion

Solifuge

Wind Scorpion, Class Arachnida, Order Solifugae, Family uncertain, species unknown.

About an inch (25 mm) long. Resembles a scorpion but: no stinger, no venom, no pincers.

The four sets of legs get progressively smaller back to front -- note the tiny forelegs.
The big red appendages in front are not legs, they're palps, or chelicerae, organs with
a sense of touch (and perhaps smell?).

There are several families and genera. This one appears to belong to family
Ammotrechidae. They eat other invertebrates including spiders and scorpions.
