This hawk is only in our area during the winter. They do come regularly. As I was driving along, I spotted this one settingly into the tree. I pulled over and got my 300mm +1.7 combo to quick get some images. I have pulled over right across from where it had landed near the road. I didn't expect it to stay for more than a few shots. Next I decided to get out my 500mm +1.7 combo to get some even closer shots. It stayed there for 10 minutes at least. It didn't flush until a large truck went by. I hadn't had any cars or trucks go by up to that point. Sometimes you just get lucky.
