Miami, Florida

Gate and timing receipts for drag races at Amelia Earhart Field (closed to aircraft traffic by then) and Masters Field in Miami (also closed to aircraft traffic by then). The City of Hialeah Police Department and warehouses now occupy the former Miami Municipal Airport/Amelia Earhart Field site and nothing is left of that airport. Miami-Dade College's North Campus now occupies the eastern portion of the former Masters Field location.

When I went to MDJC in the late 60s, there was quite a bit of unsanctioned drag racing going on at those long parking lots (old airstrips). I remember taking one of my teachers' Chevy convertibles out there and seeing how fast it would go in the 1/4 mile.
