If I remember correctly from the information board, this trail up the rock is regarded as unusually sensitive (ie not detracting from the beauty of the surroundings more than necessary) for the time when it was constructed nearly 100 years ago.

What I remember for sure was that from the bottom it looked like a trail of only 100 metres or so, but it actually took quite a while to get to the top. And that minor effort was absolutely worthwhile.
