Rocky outcrop by the Mediterranean

Valley of the Kings view map

Called Paleokastra because they looked
like castles. These rocks mark the location
of royal tombs. This place was a "safe"
distance from the city walls for a necropolis.
The Etruscans had a similar design for their
burial sites.
