2nd March - deeply drippy

We woke up this morning to bright sunshine glinting off an inch or so deep snow. Mad March – certainly but if the hares have any sense they’re tucked up in their burrows because we are still in the grip of the coldest winter anyone can remember round here for years….it’s sod’s law that we first bought a house in Cornwall at the beginning of the wettest summer for donkey’s years – the poor souls of Boscastle will testify to that and now we’ve made our permanent home here in the coldest winter for an equal number of donkey’s years.

I’m starting to believe the Mingster when he tells me he’s a rain god. It’s funny though, he claims to be a rain god yet he won’t act out my fantasy of a Take That-esque romp naked in the rain (well, not after that first time anyway…..make of that what you will).

So, given that it’s a given that he won’t…I have to take my pleasure where I find it and romp in the snow with my camera instead. This morning, as he was indulging one of my other fantasies by bringing me breakfast in bed at the crack of sparrows, in some grand gesture of largess, I was thinking I’d take advantage of the early start and grab a few shots of snow before starting work and before it melted which it was certain to do.

I’m glad I did get up and get out there because it was a fabulous morning and it set me up in the right frame of mind for work – note to self, must do that more often.

Anyway, of all of my pics, I thought this was the one that was most unusual in as much as I (and loads of others) have done drips before and again I (and loads of others have done snow) but I’ve never seen a drip with melting snow on it yet….but then as always, I’m sure it’s been done a million zillion times already so what do I know.

As many will know, I’m a devotee of the starburst filter but this was taken without – it’s pure refraction with no assistance from me other than pointing my camera at it.

If truth be told, if the rest of my day had gone this well, I’d be a very happy bunny indeed now….whereas all I got from this point in was grief about one thing or another. So, tonight I content myself with the knowledge that I have an evening in the company of a rain god (Take That impressions notwithstanding), who took a rather fabulous pic of my bread rolls earlier today, as they cooled on the wire rack before being consumed for our lunch. That’s one of the great joys of working at home – I don’t have to eat shop-bought bread at lunchtime. Now that is truly something to be thankful for…..perhaps I’m just a bit too deeply drippy for my own good sometimes.

Very strangely, we had snow in sandhurst this time last year

We had a storm blow in late last night and there's now snow in the hills...
Nice b/w, Linda. I like the little ice crystals in the droplet....

Beautiful capture of snow and water (had one too yesterday, but only noticed the drop of water when I had posted the shot).
Like the way how you captured the sunlight on the drop. Very nice.

I like this!

March is typically when we get the most snow.
